Make This Your Healthiest Summer Yet
For our team at Costa Vida, summer is our favorite time of year! For many Costavidans, summer can be a hectic time of year with family vacations, BBQ’s, and entertaining kids at home. How can you make sure you stick to your health goals when your schedule fills up?
Many of us on the Costa Vida team made New Year’s resolutions in January to live a healthier lifestyle– so is the arrival of summer any reason to stop? Today we’re sharing our tips to make this summer your healthiest yet, no matter how busy you get!
Respect Your Z’s
Staying well rested is one of the most important ways to maintain good health. When you sleep at least 7 hours each night (more if you can!) your mind is sharper and your stress levels will be lower. With proper rest, your body is more able to maintain a healthy weight.
Proper hydration is also linked to weight maintenance. Your body receives so many benefits when you drink water. For high energy levels and brighter skin, aim for at least 8 glasses of water each day.
Take it Outside
Staying active is key to living a healthy lifestyle, so why not get a dose of mood-boosting Vitamin D and fresh air while you exercise? Working out outdoors is also a great way to spend time with friends and family. Join a running group, take a family bike ride, or take a hike and enjoy the view!
If you plan to spend time outside, make sure you shield your skin and eyes from the sun. Apply water resistant sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every 2-3 hours and invest in sunglasses that block UVA and UVB light. If you’re planning on spending an entire day outside, try wearing UV blocking clothes and a hat for added protection.
Don’t Sweat It
Repeat after us – everything in moderation! Give yourself the freedom to indulge in your favorite foods while on vacation and spend a day relaxing in the sun. A healthy lifestyle is all about balance, so find the balance that works for you and allows you to enjoy your summer!
