Hacks for the Perfect Picnic
What’s better than stealing away for an afternoon picnic? When the weather is right, we can hardly wait to pack our favorite Costa Vida finger food and head to a beachy picnic spot. We love taking chips and salsa, cheesy queso, grilled tacos, and chocolate chip cookies!
Planning a picnic can be a lot of work. Because all the food must be prepared and carefully packed before the picnic, a casual outdoor meal can feel like an intense project. We want all Costavidans to enjoy their favorite food and the beautiful summer weather, so we’re sharing our favorite picnic hacks to help you prep, pack, and get outside in no time!
Hack #1 – Instant Ice Box
Place frozen water balloons in your picnic basket, bag, or cooler to keep your drinks and cold food chilled while you travel to your picnic spot. The balloons will thaw during your picnic, just in time for a water fight!
Hack #2 – Bag the Chips
No need to worry about spilling the whole bag of chips of the ground. Transform your chip bag into a sturdy chip bowl! Make sure you have a few small mason jars full of salsa, pico de gallo, and guacamole for dipping. Find the tutorial here.
Hack #3 – Hit the Showers
You have the perfect picnic blanket and have found the perfect spot, but the ground feels wet! Bring your waterproof shower curtain liner from home to place under your picnic blanket. The liner will keep your blanket dry and protect it from mud and grass stains. Find the tutorial here.
Hack #4 – Picnic Playlist
Play your favorite music at your picnic-without a sound system! Place the speaker-end of your phone into an empty cup to create a perfect portable speaker. Find the easy tutorial here.
Hack #5 – Keep it Personal
Rather than fussing with cutting a summer pie and packing extra dessert plates, keep it personal with individual desserts. We love packing chocolate chip cookies, sweet cinnamon tortillas, and this creamy key lime pie in a jar!
