Easy Ways to Give Back This Season
The holiday season is here and Costavidans everywhere are looking forward to the coming months of holiday parties and reconnecting with friends and family. During this time of year, we are all reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. This inspires many of us to make donations and volunteer our time to help the less fortunate. Although the holidays can become a busy and stressful time of year, there are many easy opportunities to give back during this season. Whether you choose to donate a gently used coat or volunteer at a homeless shelter, start a tradition this year of giving back during the holidays.

Pay it Forward
Surprise a stranger by buying breakfast, lunch, or dinner for the person behind you in the take out line. This unexpected favor will brighten someone’s day and encourage him or her to pay it forward. On your next visit to Costa Vida, use your reward points from the Costa Vida app to make someone’s day!
Buy an Extra Toy
Many Costavidans will be shopping for young ones this season. While you’re at the store fulfilling their wish list, buy an extra toy to donate to Toys for Tots or a local children’s hospital. Many toy stores will have a donation box near the check out counters.
Save Your Spare Change
The World Food Program USA (WFPUSA) collects spare change throughout the year to end childhood hunger in developing nations. Through it's "Red Cup" campaign, the WFPUSA provides nourishing meals to school-aged children in plastic red cups that have become a worldwide symbol of hope. A $0.25 donation feeds a child for a whole day, so imagine the impact of forgotten spare change! Together with partner non-profit organizations like Pioneers of Peace, the WFPUSA's Red Cup campaign sends meals to over 24 million children in 60 countries around the world. Make a difference here.
Clean Out Your Closet
Donate the warm clothes you didn’t wear last year to a local homeless shelter, Deseret Industries, or Goodwill. Gently used winter clothing, such as coats, sweaters, pants, and gloves can keep people in need warm and well this season.
Volunteer Your Time
Start a holiday tradition by serving a warm meal at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. Spending time serving others will fill your heart with gratitude, bringing the true meaning of the holiday season back into focus. Find your local kitchen or shelter here.
Host a Cookie Exchange
Reconnect with friends by hosting a cookie exchange. Ask each guest bring a dozen or two of their favorite holiday cookies. Spend time catching up and sampling treats, then deliver the remaining cookies to a local nursing home or fire station.
